Home Sales Typically Slow as Autumn Approaches

Despite reports of more jobs, lower interest rates and overall economic improvement, home sales are expected to slow as we head into the autumn months. Again, our inventory is way down to only 18 Active listings within the Kingsburg city limits and we had 11 homes close escrow in the month of August. So inventory down ….. sales up! Great market, except that now we start into the slow months. It is estimated that National sales will be down 16% from August thru September, holding steady for October, down another 8% in November and will plummet by 27% in January. Wow, talk about some depressing numbers! I wonder if they are hiring at the shoe department in Macys. But seriously, this is nothing but typical for the real estate market to weaken during autumn and winter. Invariably, there are fewer home buyers from September through February. Come spring, up, up it goes again and all is well. This time of the year is a great time for real estate agents to put together their marketing strategies for the next year.
And speaking of real estate agents, I am proud to announce that I passed my Broker exam in August and am now amongst the Broker/Associates of California. Yay! Tough test and I’m way too old for all that book learnin’ stuff, something about brain cells.
This year’s Harvest Moon Music Festival is coming up on Saturday, September 27 in downtown Kingsburg. The festival helps to honor all local agriculture. It begins at 5pm and includes: Live Jazz Bands, Crayfish Chowder, Farmers Market, Baking Contest & Food Vendors. The event is highlighted when the Great Pumpkin Arrives on site. And take a look at the banners on the Draper Street corners honoring farming in the Kingsburg. Pretty cool, uh?
And as always, thank you for reading our monthly blog and feel free to post any comments.
