When will the housing market be “corrected”?

According to a lead economist of a statewide Realtor group, the housing recovery in California is expected to continue through 2013 and the market won’t be “corrected” until as far off as 2017.  Home sales and prices are expected to keep rising, but lower-than-normal inventory levels and underwater mortgages are key hindrances to a faster recovery.  The market is correcting ….. but it will take 3 to 5 years before we fully correct.

Even though I agree that the market has been moving in the right direction for several months, it pains me to hear that it could take another 5 years to return to normal ….. whatever that is.  Our numbers for the month of September are all over the place.  Active listings are up from 19 to 27 and our sales are down from 10 to 8.  It seems to me that if we are “correcting”, those numbers should be reversed.  But as it is only a 30 day snapshot, I won’t get too worried.  All I know is that we are busy and that’s a good thing.

Don’t forget, Leonard and I are providing FREE pocket editions of The Constitution of the United States which includes the Declaration of Independence.  So far, we’ve given away about 300 of these great little reference guides.  You can pick up a FREE copy of it here at our office at 1340 Sierra St. while supplies last.  This is our little way of spreading the word about the importance of our government following the guidelines of the Constitution.  And don’t forget to VOTE!
